Ceiba Adventures Blog

Ceiba Adventures was launched in 1985 with unique itineraries to the famed Maya ruins in southern Mexico. That same year, our river trip offerings were initiated on the Rio Usumacinta, the river that forms the border between Guatemala and Mexico.

Ceiba quickly became a well-respected travel outfitter in the region and expanded with a full range of adventure offerings in whitewater trips, Maya archaeology, overland tours, birding excursions and our exclusive caving trips.

Since then, Ceiba has made many first descents on rivers throughout southern Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. We also have pioneered some of the deepest and most technical caves in the western hemisphere. This experience has prompted the adventure film industry to utilize Ceiba’s expertise to coordinate, organize and assist in many film projects, including Emmy Award winners, over the last two decades.
